On Thursday, Bryan, Larry, and I went to Minneapolis to attend a Windows 7 Launch Conference. On top of getting free shirts and copies of Windows 7 Ultimate, we stopped by United Noodles (a large asian outlet store) and got some supplies for making Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki.
Today, we put all of it to the test.

Delicious little baby octopus de-thawing in water.

Skinning the “slime potato.”
It’s actually called a Nagaimo. It’s a type of Japanese mountain yam that excretes a lot of goo when skinned or grated. It’s a big pain to cook with them because of this. We just call it a slime potato.

Stirring Okonomiyaki batter.

Cooking Okonomiyaki is basically the art of combining several gross things together to make something delicious.

Cutting up the octopus.

Tasty little octopus legs.

Frying the okonomiyaki.

I made the takoyaki!

Okonomiyaki!
Both turned out great! We did it with mostly American bought items. I think the only thing bought in Japan was the sauce we used to top it with.

Great Success!
After the feast was over, we went to the 9:55 of…
